Take a tour in Portugal without passing through Lisbon? That’s simply depriving yourself of the most beautiful places in the region. It took me a few visits before I knew what my favorite places were tourist sites of reference in Lisbon.

It wasn’t easy, but I think I’m not doing too bad with these two little attractions. It might come in handy if you’re thinking of going to Lisbon, but don’t know how to pass the time yet.

The Feira de Ladra

Or literally, the thieves’ fair is an attraction that caught my attention. Okay: it’s not really a tourist spot per se, but it’s still one of the most visited places in Lisbon.

Basically, it is a flea market that is available every Tuesday and Saturday in the Portuguese capital. After a bit of hunting here and there, you will not have any trouble finding small handicrafts. And it’s the Portuguese site where you can find good deals without hurting your budget.

The Fado Museum

In order to fully immerse yourself in the Portuguese culture to fully immerse yourself in the Portuguese culture, I recommend a visit to the Fado Museum. For those who do not know yet: the fado is in fact a typical Portuguese song. It is rooted in the traditions of the country, and Lisbon even has a museum dedicated to it.

If you want to spend a few hours listening to the melancholy sounds of the fado, I can only advise you to visit the museum how to go to the Fado museum. I assure you that it is not boring. To make it short, this music is a kind of supplication which will ask questions to the destiny, while knowing pertinently that there is only to resign itself. Emo music in a cultural center in Lisbon.
